Update on Possible Bond Process for Clarkson Public Schools
This is an update on the Clarkson Public Schools Bond Process as we head into July. The past two months have been meetings with Clarkson Patrons who have been asked to serve on the Bond Committee.
The Committee has taken a tour of Clarkson Public Schools and been working with our architects from CWP and BD Construction to look at the current needs of the school building and prioritizing and ranking needs as we move forward in the process. After prioritizing items, tentative pricing was shared with the committee on the selected items. Then with an estimate on costs of the different items, a new priority list was created by the group.
The next stage CWP will present will be two or three concept plans. This again is based on feedback provided from the last meeting. Each plan would have a total project cost developed by BD. This meeting will also include a presentation on fiscal impact and levy by DA Davidison, our fiscal agent. The committee will discuss what impact each project scope will have on the tax request and continue to narrow down the scope of the project.
As we move forward with the process, we will get more community involvement as committee members will be asked to bring a plus one to a Bond Committee meeting. We will then be having community meetings with a tour of existing facilities and rendering of plans for facilities to inform the public and answer any questions or concerns they may have of the process. If the Clarkson School Board approves going forward with the Bond Election it will be on the ballot during the General Election in November.
