Hopefully everyone’s summer is going well and everyone is gearing up for Czech Days Activities festivities at the end of the month.
I wanted to update everyone on the Clarkson Public Schools building project. We have switched into the last phase of design for the building as our architects (CWP) and builders (BD) have been working with staff and engineers on putting the final touches on the classrooms and facilities. The goal is to have the design phase completed in mid-July so the plans can go out for bids. Once the bids are in and the vendor selection process has been completed the current goal is to be able to start construction in late August on the PK-3 building which will be the initial phase of the building project.
Besides the design phase work with CWP and BD, we have been busy with other projects that need to be done for the building project. The school has purchased a lot of land to the west of the school. This lot purchase will allow us to increase our staff parking lot as we will be losing some parking in front of the lobby during the project. It will also allow us to create a better driving lane for delivery trucks and improve traffic flow around the school.
We have also been working with multiple playground companies as we build a new elementary playground. The new playground will be located on the north side of the building beside the new elementary building. Besides working with the different companies we have met with the Clarkson City Council and they have agreed to be involved in our grant writing as we write grants to help fund the playground.
I will update everyone again in August!!

Nebraska law requires children entering Kindergarten, 7th grade, or transferring from an out-of-state school to provide proof of vision evaluation within 6 months prior to school entrance. This evaluation is to include testing for ambylopia, strabismus, internal and external eye health, and visual acuity. This basically means: 1. Out of state transfer students, Kindergarteners, and 7th graders must get a physical and vision exam prior to the start of school. 2. Regarding the vision exam: The elements of this eye exam can be done by any health care provider (including MDs, ODs, PAs, APRNs) and DOES NOT require an eye specialist. Of course an exam by an eye specialist is also acceptable, but it is . . .
